Told a coworker

To day at work, I was talking to one of my coworkers, about a situation that occurred today.

One of my employees offered me the daily word pamphlet, I politely said no thanks, and he started in on me about oh your going to hell. I responded to this by basically saying ok if that's what you think.

Later in the day I was talking to another manager and he wound up asking me if I was a atheist, I told him yes, but not something I would tell a lot of our customers, or employees.

We got into a discussion about having a rational conversation, and the ability to agree to disagree. and I explained how a lot of the time Christian's always lose by putting someone on the defensive I explained if I walked into the office, started yelling at him, that his reaction would normally be very defensive and not really listen to a thing I had to say. I then explained this is exactly what a lot of Christian's do by immediately start telling someone that doesn't believe the way they do or doesn't believe at all that they are going to hell. You cant attack someone for their believe or disbelieve, you must have the ability to listen and agree to disagree.

I have been under the idea that if you want to believe that a god exists then that's fine for you, as long as you follow a couple of simple rules
  1. Do not hurt someone in the name of your god/religion
  2. Do not force your believes on someone that doesn't want to believe what you believe
  3. Have respect for other people and their choices
  4. Believe what you want, but keep your believes out of the public venue (some people want a religious country (what religion?) We attacked and destroyed Afghanistan and they were a very religious country, do you want that here?
I am sure I could put more, and wouldnt mind someone else putting more, but thats all for right now
