Sunday-school teacher arrested in killing of California girl

This is one of the people you are supposed to be able to trust with your children.

Sunday-school teacher arrested in killing of California girl - CNN.com
(CNN) -- Police have arrested a Sunday-school teacher in the killing of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu, and say the woman owned the suitcase that held the California girl's body.
Melissa Huckaby, seen in a mugshot released by police, was arrested in the killing of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.

Melissa Huckaby, seen in a mugshot released by police, was arrested in the killing of 8-year-old Sandra Cantu.

Melissa Huckaby, 28, told the Tracy Press newspaper she reported her black rolling suitcase missing on Sunday, the day before Sandra's body was found inside it, submerged in a pond at a dairy farm.

Authorities believe Huckaby lied when she said it was stolen, Tracy, California, police Sgt. Tony Sheneman said in an early morning briefing.

Huckaby is the granddaughter of Clifford Lane Lawless, pastor of Clover Road Baptist Church, according to the newspaper.

Huckaby and her daughter lived with the pastor and his wife in the same mobile home park where Sandra lived with her family. Huckaby's daughter was friends with Sandra, Sheneman said.

Huckaby told the Tracy Press her suitcase disappeared the same day, March 27, around the same time Sandra was last seen.

"There's been a lot of speculation on the news about what happened to my suitcase," she said. "It's not my granddad's. It's mine, and someone took it."

Sheneman said authorities asked Huckaby if she would come down Friday night to be re-interviewed, and she drove herself there, arriving about 6 p.m.

During the interview, Sheneman said, "She was very relaxed for a bit, and then she became very emotional, and then she became relaxed again" before appearing resigned.

He declined to say whether Huckaby had confessed, but said "she revealed enough information that we had probable cause to arrest her."

Huckaby was booked into the San Joaquin County jail about 3:25 a.m. (6:25 a.m. ET), according to the sheriff's Web site. She faces charges of kidnapping and murder, and is set to appear in court Tuesday.

Police have had contact with Huckaby before, but she does not have a record of violence, Sheneman said. He said no other arrests are expected in Sandra's death, and gave no information on a motive.

Citing court records, the Tracy Press reported a 28-year-old Melissa Huckaby pleaded no contest January 9 to a felony charge of second-degree commercial burglary and a misdemeanor charge of property theft with a prior theft, burglary or robbery.

A criminal complaint says she was jailed in Los Angeles County on a property theft conviction in 2006 and that she attempted to steal from a store in November 2008. According to the complaint, she is on probation in San Joaquin County and is due back in court Friday.

Asked about the court records, Huckaby told the newspaper it wasn't her and that she did not know why the address and cell phone number in the court documents match her own. "I don't know what to say," she said. "That's not me."

Police believe that by the time Sandra was reported missing, the girl was already dead, Tracy Police Chief Janet Thiessen told reporters Saturday. Video Watch neighbors remember slain girl »

The day Sandra was last reported seen, she returned home from school, kissed her mother and left to play with a friend who lives nearby. A short time later, wearing a pink Hello Kitty T-shirt and black leggings, she left to go to another friend's home, according to a family spokeswoman. Police said the girl's clothing helped them identify her body.

Huckaby told the Tracy Press that Sandra stopped by her home that day to see if she could play with Huckaby's daughter, but she refused to let her daughter play with Sandra because she wanted her daughter to pick up her toys. Sandra left for another friend's home, Huckaby told the newspaper.

How Sandra died has not been made public. An autopsy was conducted earlier in the week, but CNN affiliate KRON-TV said results are not expected for weeks. Thiessen said Saturday any autopsy information as well as search warrants filed in the case remain under seal

Genesis 10

SAB, Genesis 10

Just genealogy not worth any real review

PER SAB
The entire tenth chapter is one of the many boring genealogies (see 1 Chr.1-9, Mt.1:1-17, Lk.3:23-28 for other examples) that we are told to avoid in 1 Tim.1:4 and Tit.3:9 ("Avoid foolish questions and genealogies.")
(10:5, 20, 31)"Every one after his tongue"
These verses show that, contrary to 11:1, many languages existed before construction began on the tower of Babel.
Were there languages before Babel?
(10:8-9) "Nimrod ... a mighty hunter before the Lord"
Who was Nimrod? The king who tried to construct the tower of Babel? The first pope? Elmer Fudd? Here are some links to help you decide.

Genesis 9

SAB, Genesis 9

  • 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.

PER SAB
(9:2) "The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast. Into your hand are they delivered."
According to this verse, all animals fear humans. Although it is true that many do, many do not. Sharks and grizzly bears, for example, are generally much less afraid of us than we are of them
(9:2) "Into your hands are they delivered."
God gave the animals to humans, and they can do whatever they please with them. This verse has been used by bible believers to justify all kinds of cruelty to animals and environmental destruction.

  • 9:6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

So god is all for execution of murders.

PER SAB
(9:6) "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed."
Then why did God put a mark on Cain (after he murdered Abel) so that others wouldn't kill him? (Gen.4:15).
Does God approve of capital punishment?
What the Bible says about capital punishment

  • 9:15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.

Ok so its ok for god to flood small areas, and kill people in those areas.

  • 9:22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.
  • 9:23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.
  • 9:24 And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
  • 9:25 And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

Noah is just wrong here, mad at canaan because his father saw him nude. So he is going to turn canaan in to a slave.

PER SAB
(9:20-25)
"Noah ... drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent."
The "just and righteous" Noah (6:9, 7:1) plants a vineyard, gets drunk, and lies around naked in his tent. His son, Ham, happens to see his father in this condition. When Noah sobers up and hears "what his young son had done unto him" (what did he do besides look at him?), he curses not Ham, who "saw the nakedness of his father," but Ham's son, Canaan. "A servant of servants shall he [Canaan] be unto his brethren." This is a typical case of biblical justice, and is one of many Bible passages that have been used to justify slavery.
Are we punished for the sins of others?
What the Bible says about nudism

Genesis 8

SAB, Genesis 8

Sometimes the comments that SAB comes up with are just so funny, so I might not have my own comment because I agree with what they are saying.

  • 8:1 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;

PER SAB
(8:1) "And God remembered Noah."
Yeah. He probably said something like, "Isn't Noah the guy who built the ark?"

  • 8:8 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground;
  • 8:9 But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark.
  • 8:10 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark;
  • 8:11 And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

Now come on the dove returned with a olive leaf, they FLOAT. The dove could have gotten it off the ocean.

PER SAB

(8:8-11) "He sent forth a dove."
Noah sends a dove out to see if there was any dry land. But the dove returns without finding any. Then, just seven days later, the dove goes out again and returns with an olive leaf. But how could an olive tree survive the flood? And if any seeds happened to survive, they wouldn't germinate and grow leaves within a seven day period.

  • 8:13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
  • 8:14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

Which was it January 1st or February 7th or February 20th?

PER SAB
8:13-14) "In the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth."
When did the earth dry after the flood?

  • 8:19 Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark.

PER SAB
(8:19) "Every beast, every creeping thing, and every fowl, and whatsoever creepeth upon the earth, after their kinds, went forth out of the ark."
When the animals left the ark, what would they have eaten? There would have been no plants after the ground had been submerged for nearly a year. What would the carnivores have eaten? Whatever prey they ate would have gone extinct. And how did the New World monkeys or the Australian marsupials find their way back after the flood subsided?

Its a very good question, what did they eat?

8:20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Ummm, Noah killed the animals? How the hell are there any clean animals left on earth? This makes no sense at all, and contradicts what is currently here on earth.

So I would say that we have just disproved this story as a complete work of fiction, also sense there is no scientific proof for the flood.

Genesis 7

SAB, Genesis 7

  • 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
  • 7:3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

In genesis 6 noah was told to take a pair of each, god changed his mind?

  • 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.

Damm kills everything? even the plants?

  • 7:13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
  • 7:14 They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.

Didn't catch this till I was looking at what SAB said, but it is good
PER SAB
(7:13-14) "In the selfsame day"
All of the animals boarded the ark "in the selfsame day."
Since there were a million species or so at the time, the animals must have boarded at a rate of at least 20 animals/second.

Damm those animals where moving fast.

7:19 And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
7:20
Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

That is alot of water.

PER SAB
(7:19-20) "The mountains were covered."
The flood covered the highest mountain tops (Mount Everest?) with fifteen cubits to spare. Where did all the water come from? Where did it all go? Why is there no evidence of such a massive flood in the geological record?

7:21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:7:22 All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.7:23 And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

Mass murder, with the few remaining numbers of each specie this would result in total incest, and biological disaster. The genetic make up would be so corrupt it would be unreal.

PER SAB
(7:21-23)
"All flesh died that moved upon the earth."
God drowned everything that breathes air. From newborn babies to koala bears -- all creatures great and small, the Lord God drowned them all. (Except for the Nephilium, that is.)
Did everyone die in the flood?

Genesis 6

SAB, Genesis 6

  • 6:2
That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they
took them wives of all which they chose.
  • 6:3
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is
    flesh:
yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
  • 6:4
There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after
that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and
they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Sounds like god has alot of his own kids, and they were coming to earth to have some fun.

PER SAB
(6:2, 4)
"The sons of God came in unto the
daughters of men."

How many sons does God have?

Do angels have sex?

Who were the sons of God?

  • 6:5
And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and
that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually
    .

So much for being omnipotent, he should have known this was going to happen.

  • 6:7
And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the
    face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air;
    for
it repenteth me that I have made them
    .

Opps got mad at himself for what he made. Should have known what would happen, guess not.

  • 6:11
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
  • 6:12
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh
had corrupted his way upon the earth
Well god made it.

FROM SAB
Genesis 6:14-15
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

Noah's ark is 450 feet long. The largest wooden ships ever built were just over 300 feet, and they required diagonal iron strapping for support. Even so, they leaked so badly that they had to be pumped constantly. Are we to believe that Noah, with no shipbuilding knowledge, was able to construct a wooden ship longer than any that has been built since?

but not only was the ark too big to be seaworthy, it was far too small to be able to contain the earth's millions of plant and animal species.

I really would love to know the answer to this one, its impossible for the ark to hold all the animals, and I have always wondered how did they get back to where they currently are?

6:17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

So is mass murder ok with god? Oh and if every thing that is in the earth shall die, then wouldn't that include the planet it self?
